Just 7 years ago, I was dragging my ass back to work after cancer treatment, deep in debt, heartbroken, and completely disillusioned with the state of my country and a broken healthcare system.
I could literally feel my heart screaming for a change—desperately wanting something that made me feel alive again.
I spent nearly 20 years trudging through all the BS trying to figure out how to get a job abroad - and I finally nailed it.
What was meant to be 9 months with my first NGO turned into 3.5 years of high impact work, a doctorate, a husband and a baby, and an even deeper commitment to improving health equity around the world.
Choosing a life abroad was the best decision I ever made — for myself and my patients.

It depends! Some organizations rely on unpaid volunteers or fellows who pay to join and are only provided on-site accommodation. Paid positions range from monthly stipends of ~$1-3k, all the way up to annual salary of $50k+ with benefits like health insurance, paid flights, and relocation bonuses. Finances are an important piece of the puzzle that we will discuss throughout the program!
